Division 3 at Route 66 is in the Books and MWTS made a Great Showing

Division 3 NHRA Lucas Oil Series
The event started off on Friday with cloudy skies and a chance of rain. But that didn't stop the Top Sportsman class from making some of the best runs yet. 45 cars tried to qualify and only 32 where able to get into the show. By second round on Friday, the top 4 where annouced and set for the "Fast Four" and one of our members, Rick Sokja Jr was qualified in. That was great news, considering all the troubles this team has had over the past years. By the end of qualifying on Saturday, the field was set with a 7.04 bump! this is the second fastest Top Sportsman field in Route 66 Raceways history. And there was even better news, out of the 32 car field, 11 of the MWTS members, where in the first round of eliminations on Sunday. They where James Tacchia, Tim Kirman, Dave Green, Don Baxter, Brian Brown, Mike Kokenes by the way won the "Best Engineered Car" of the event, Alex Bosak, Lee Ebersole, Larry Dumke, Rick Corn and Jeff Fleming. Congratulation on your performance. We would like to also congratulate all the other MWTS members that tried to qualify in the field or came to support and cheer on the Midwest Top Sportsman Association. It was truely exciting to see the members and there families out there having a great time. Also we would like to thank god that everyone on the "It Takes a Thief Racing" team is ok. They had a violent nitros explosion in the pits, that shook the trailers around them. Some members recieved cuts, scratches and some hair burnt. Mostly they where heartbroken, not being able to continue racing in the event. Mike Olenick the owner/driver of the team, has been a huge active supporter of the association and said he will fix it and will be back in action. These are the type of diehard racers this association is made of, a "Never Give Up" attitude.
